> About Us

I'm a proud Canadian with a story to share. Born in Vietnam, my family and I fled our war-torn country in the late 1970s, seeking refuge as part of the "boat people" era. I was just six years old when we arrived in Canada, to a small farming community in Southern Ontario (population less than 1000 in the late 70's). My family was blessed by the kindness of the community, who welcomed us with open arms. I vividly remember my first "Canadian experience" - watching snowflakes fall from the sky and sprinking the tip of my nose. I remember screaming with wonder to my mother watching me from the kitchen window. Till this day, seeing the first snow-covered day brings me back to that moment, on that farm, and the feeling of calm and serenity.

For my family, those early years in Canada were filled with challenges, but also with hope and resilience. My family moved from small town to small town, eventually settling in Toronto. Today, Toronto remains our home, and I'm deeply grateful for the opportunities Canada has provided. Despite my family's Chinese heritage, our hearts belong to Canada. We're proud to be part of this incredible country, with its vibrant mosaic of cultures sharing a common voice. My journey has also given me a deep appreciation for the United States. Through family, friends, and work, I've developed strong connections to America and respect its people and culture. However, as a proud Canadian, the idea of Canada, our home, becoming the 51st American state is not only unrealistic but also deeply personal. This idea disregards our unique Canadian identity and independence. I'm passionate about supporting the "never-51" movement - and NVR51 is born. For me, it's about celebrating what makes Canada special and unique. Canada will never, in any shape or form, be the part of the US and the US will never be part Canada. Canada, from coast-to-coast, we stand strong and we stand together - always!

Canada Strong. Canada First.
